Tell us your engagement story!

I (Lisa) had absolutely no idea that it was going to happen. We had talked about getting engaged and getting married, and had started ring shopping, but so had many other couples. March 2024 was a chaotic month with work, with family. One weekend, we had plans to go apartment hunting. My dad randomly called asking if we wanted to come over for dinner (which wasn't unusual). I told him I'd let him know, and of course Joon, in his loving way, said yes. We made our way to my dad's, me thinking nothing of it. I'm in the living room catching up with my dad when suddenly I notice that Joon had disappeared. I search everywhere for him, until I find a door that's closed. I try listening in to see if he's on an important call, only to hear silence. Then I cautiously open the door and there he was, standing amidst a room of carefully decorated room, with a beautiful bouquet of roses, and a red box in his hand. It turns out that he had gone over to my parents', and planned the whole engagement with my dad. This may not sound like much but to me it meant the world. At the time, my dad was in the midst of fighting cancer, and had just been discharged from a several month long hospital admission. Our family had gone through a lot and Joon knew how important family was to me. He went above and beyond to make this engagement special and memorable not only for me but for my loved ones and I can't ever be more grateful.

What was your wedding style?

Our wedding style was classy, elegant and garden-chic.

When it came to planning your wedding, what was most important to you?

The perfect balance of intimate and fun, of authentic to who we are but also the people we love. It was really important to us that our loved ones felt included, despite the language barrier for some, and that they were all able to enjoy themselves!

What was the best part of your wedding day?

Being able to celebrate, dance and laugh with all these amazing people, who were there for me and Joon, for our highest highs and our lowest lows, some from the same city and others from across the world. The profound sense of gratitude was so special!!

What made you choose Day of Diva?

Amanda's ENERGY!!!!!! We had interviewed about 2-3 other planners before Amanda, but Amanda's energy was like no other and our choice of planner was suddenly made very easy. Even through the screen, her bright smile, enthusiasm, and passion shone through. Not only that, but Amanda was so clearly knowledgeable, approachable, and client-centred.
