Essential Tips for a Perfect Tented Wedding

Choose the Right Tent Size: Ensure the tent is spacious enough for your guest list, plus room for dancing, dining, and any other activities. The company you are renting the tent from is a great resource to understanding the set up requirements, and the size of tent required based on everything you have planned! Here is an approximate guideline for a seated dinner!

50 Guests- 20' x 40'

100 Guests- 40' x 40'

200 Guests- 40' x 80'

Prepare for Weather: We live in a place with some of the most unpredictable weather. Always have a backup plan for rain or extreme temperatures. Rent fans for hot weather to help circulate the air, heaters if the nights are cooler or if you get caught with a bad weather day, or sidewalls to protect guests from the wind or rain, and always have umbrellas available for guests.

Lighting is Key: It can be easy to forget to consider the lighting situation once all the fun has began! Outdoor lighting adds not only ambiance, but an also be helpful for guiding guests to their vehicles, accommodation or shuttles. It's important that your guests can see inside the tent as well. Use string lights, chandeliers, or lanterns to create a magical atmosphere as the sun sets. If you don't arrange for lighting, it can get dark very quickly and make it difficult for your vendors and guests to get around!

Flooring and Comfort: A tent can quickly get muddy or develop uneven ground, so consider renting flooring for stability and comfort. If there is inclement weather leading up to your big day, it will effect the ground, and your guests comfort. Consider how even the ground is, and consider adding a dance floor or some more solid surfaces. Another consideration is some lounge furniture or more comfortable seating once dinner is over and the dance has begun. People often like to settle in, so remember that you are the only provider of seating and comfortable areas. Add cushions or rugs to make the space cozy.

The Essentials: something that can be easily overlooked are bathrooms and electricity. Often tents are set up in spaces away from buildings and utilities. It's important to understand the facilities that are available to you, and what you are expected to provide. Speak to rental companies and seek their advice for the requirements based on your event for power, and ensure that you have the correct wattage.
